Tama EOT-47 History

Alongside its passenger car, Tokyo Electro Automobile Co. also built a two-seat light pickup truck designated EOT-47-2. Like the sedan, it used a 4.5 hp motor and achieved a top speed of around 34 km/h, with a rated payload of 500 kg (approximately 1,100 lb). Unusually, the truck was offered in both electric and gasoline variants, the gasoline model giving operators flexibility as fuel supplies gradually normalized under the US occupation.

The truck served local commercial delivery roles and complemented the taxi-market passenger cars. It remained in the Tama line-up through the marque's final years, sharing the fate of the whole brand as rising lead prices and restored oil supplies ended the economic rationale for Japanese light-duty EVs around 1951.
