The Greif (German for 'griffin', the heraldic symbol of Stettin) was Stoewer's last car designed under Emil and Bernhard Stoewer before the brothers were pushed out. It used a 2,488 cc light-alloy V8 engine with vertical valves producing approximately 55 PS, driving the front wheels through a four-speed gearbox — a technically ambitious layout for a German car of the mid-1930s.
Stoewer produced only about 20 of these aluminium-engined cars, making the Greif V8 extremely rare today. It was offered as a pillarless four-door limousine and in other coachbuilt configurations. The model ran until about 1939, when it was succeeded by the Arkona.
