Rambler Rambler Classic History

The Rambler Classic arrived for 1961, consolidating the previous Rambler Six and Rambler Rebel V-8 into a single intermediate line and serving as AMC's volume mid-size car at the height of the Rambler brand's success.

A 1963 redesign earned the Classic the Motor Trend Car of the Year award and introduced AMC's distinctive uni-side body construction. The Classic was offered as sedans, wagons, and hardtops, and its two-door hardtop body underpinned the fastback Marlin in 1965–1966. The Classic name was retired after 1966 and effectively replaced by the AMC Rebel for 1967.
