Pagani Utopia History

Pagani revealed the Utopia on 12 September 2022 at the Teatro Lirico di Milano, positioning it as a synthesis of the Zonda's analogue purity and the Huayra's technical sophistication rather than a pure technological escalation. The name was chosen to reflect a car closer to its driver's ideal than any that came before. Its 5.98-litre twin-turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V12 — developed for Pagani and producing 864 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque — can be paired with either a seven-speed automated manual or an Xtrac-derived seven-speed transversal manual gearbox, an unusual choice in a contemporary hypercar and a deliberate nod to driver engagement over outright lap times.

The Utopia's body is constructed from Pagani's proprietary carbo-titanium and carbo-triax HP62 composites, with exposed titanium fasteners and machined aluminium detailing throughout the cabin. Horacio Pagani described the design as the most complete distillation of his philosophy: the car should be beautiful to look at, to touch, and to drive. All 99 coupé allocations were assigned to customers before the car was publicly revealed, at a base price of approximately $2.19 million USD.

The Utopia Roadster followed on 30 July 2024, adding a removable carbon-fibre hard-top and a soft-top while retaining the coupé's complete drivetrain and structure. Production is limited to 130 roadsters at a base price of approximately $3.4 million USD. Together the two body styles give the Utopia the largest (if still microscopic) production run of any Pagani model to date.
