Otosan Anadol Böcek History

The Böcek (Turkish for 'bug' or 'beetle') was conceived as a multi-purpose vehicle for the Turkish Armed Forces and the tourism sector. It was styled by Jan Nahum with deliberately asymmetrical, pop-art bodywork and used a 1,298 cc Ford engine producing 63 bhp. Variants included versions with gull-wing doors and specialized military configurations.

Only 203 examples were completed across 1975–1977. Turkey's economic crisis of the mid-1970s throttled demand before the concept could find its market. Despite its rarity the Böcek remains an enduring curiosity in Turkish automotive history — a moment when Otosan briefly imagined a recreational-vehicle segment that the market was not yet ready to support.
