Mercury Monterey History

The Monterey debuted for 1950 as a top-trim Mercury and grew into the division's core full-size model line through the 1950s and 1960s, including the distinctive reverse-slant retractable 'Breezeway' rear window of the early 1960s. The classic full-size Monterey ran through 1974.

Ford later revived the Monterey name for 2004–2007 on a badge-engineered minivan (a sibling of the Ford Freestar), an unrelated and short-lived use of the nameplate near the end of the brand's life.
