History

Introduced in 2019, the McLaren GT was the brand's first car designed specifically as a grand tourer, trading some of the supercars' single-mindedness for everyday usability and luggage capacity. A carbon-fibre rear deck under a glazed tailgate gave a long rear load bay (around 420 litres) on top of the front boot, while a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 made 620 PS (612 hp).

The GT was succeeded in 2024 by the GTS, which used the same platform and engine architecture with more power (635 PS) and reduced weight.
