Maxus T60 History

The Maxus T60 debuted at the 2016 Guangzhou International Motor Show and went on sale in November 2016. It marked a strategic inflection point for SAIC: the T60 was explicitly engineered as a global-market product from the outset — not a domestic vehicle adapted for export — with right-hand-drive variants developed in parallel with left-hand-drive versions.

Powered primarily by a 2.8-litre turbodiesel producing 150 hp and 360 N·m, paired with six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, the T60 is offered in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations. In Australia, where it launched in September 2017 under the LDV badge, it became the first Chinese-manufactured pickup truck to achieve a 5-star ANCAP safety rating — a milestone that opened doors across Australasia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

By 2019 the T60 was sold in more than twenty countries, and within one year of its 2017 launch in Chile it had become the country's tenth best-selling pickup. It is also badged as the MG Extender in Thailand and Laos, and as the Chevrolet S10 Max in Mexico. An upgraded T70 variant followed in 2019, and the larger T90 entered production in 2021.
