Maxus D90 History

The Maxus D90 was previewed by a concept at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show and made its production debut at the 2016 Guangzhou International Motor Show, going on sale in China in October 2017. At more than five metres long it is a full-size body-on-frame SUV sharing its ladder-frame platform with the T60 pickup, offered in five- and seven-seat configurations.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 224 hp, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The D90 competes in the Chinese market against other large SUVs and was Maxus's best-selling SUV nameplate during its peak years.

A heavily updated Territory variant — positioned as a luxury derivative of the D90 — was introduced in 2022, featuring a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel with a 48V mild-hybrid system producing 218 hp and 500 N·m, mated to an eight-speed automatic. The D90 nameplate continues in markets including the UAE and several Southeast Asian countries.
