Maruti Suzuki Omni History
History
Launched in 1984 and based on the Suzuki Carry van platform, the Maruti Omni was a compact, rear-engined microvan that became ubiquitous as a shared taxi and cargo carrier across India.
Its utilitarian boxy shape and low cost of ownership gave it extraordinary longevity; the Omni remained in production until April 2019, when tightening safety regulations (mandatory airbags and ABS for all cars) ended its 35-year run without a meaningful update.
