Maruti Suzuki Jimny History

After decades of the Gypsy carrying the rugged 4×4 banner for Maruti, the Jimny was launched in India in 2023 in a five-door body style developed specifically for markets that need the extra doors. Mechanically it shares the fourth-generation Jimny's ladder-frame chassis and 1.5-litre petrol engine with AllGrip Pro four-wheel drive.

The Indian five-door Jimny is actually built in India and exported globally — the reverse of the typical model, and a reflection of India's growing importance as a manufacturing base for Suzuki worldwide.
