Marcopolo Volare History
History
Volare was created in 1998 as a dedicated business unit within Marcopolo S.A., born from an earlier Marcopolo microbus model and spun into its own product line to capture the fast-growing light-transit segment in Brazil. From its base in Caxias do Sul, it developed purpose-built minibus bodies on light commercial chassis.
The current Volare portfolio spans the Fly line (Fly 6, Fly 9, Fly 10, and Fly 12), the Attack line (Attack 8 and Attack 9) for urban and school routes, and the Access line for accessible transit — including the Access-E electric variant launched 2017, making Volare one of Brazil's earlier movers into electric light transit. A hybrid Attack variant followed in 2025.
Volare holds more than 50% of Brazil's minibus market, making it the dominant nameplate in a segment Marcopolo identified and built from scratch in the late 1990s.
