History

The Torino was launched in 1982–1983 as part of Marcopolo's 'Technological Transportation System' product push, designed to replace the earlier Venice II line and bring more modern engineering to the Brazilian intercity market. It was developed alongside the Viaggio and drew conceptually from the internal Padron Project begun in 1978.

The body saw progressive updates — Torino LN (1989), Torino GV (1995), Torino 1999 (1998), Torino 2007 (2007), and Torino 2014 (2014) — alongside the urban-oriented Torino Express (2014–2023) and the current Torino S (2017–present). The longevity of the nameplate reflects Marcopolo's practice of maintaining continuity while modernising incrementally.
