History
The Paradiso debuted in 1984 as Marcopolo's first hi-deck (HD) intercity coach, arriving months before rival Nielson's Diplomata 380 and immediately establishing itself as a premium benchmark on Brazil's long-distance routes. Bodies were fitted to rear- and mid-engine chassis from Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania, and Volkswagen.
Successive generations expanded the Paradiso family: a low-driver variant (LD) followed in 1994, placing the driver's cab below the passenger floor for better sightlines, and in 1995 Marcopolo introduced the Paradiso 1800 DD — Brazil's first serially produced double-decker coach — with a larger upper compartment and integrated driver's cab.
Generation 7 (G7) arrived in 2010 (with an updated G7 line introduced 2018) and set a new regional standard for seating comfort and safety. In July 2021 Marcopolo presented Generation 8 (G8) with a restyled exterior and additional safety and connectivity features. The current lineup spans five variants: 1050, 1200, 1350, 1600 LD, and 1800 DD.
