History

The Senior entered production in 1983 as Marcopolo's minibus offering for lighter urban and rural feeder routes, providing a smaller complement to the company's full-size city and intercity coaches. Early variants seated around 27–31 passengers.

The line was updated through the Senior 1989, Senior 2000, Senior 2005, and Senior 2018 versions, each bringing revised bodywork, improved safety features, and wider body widths. The Senior Rodoviário variant targets longer rural and highway routes with a higher-specification interior.

Across more than four decades of continuous production, the Senior has been one of the most durable nameplate in Marcopolo's catalogue, reflecting sustained demand for medium-capacity transit in Brazil.
