Magna Steyr Toyota GR Supra History

The GR Supra (A90/J29) was born from a joint programme between Toyota and BMW, with the Austrian-built BMW Z4 roadster as its platform sibling. The first production GR Supra rolled off the Magna Steyr line in Graz in March 2019. Every Supra built during the model's run came from that single Austrian facility, making Magna Steyr the sole global source of the revived nameplate.

Toyota produced the GR Supra with a BMW-sourced turbocharged six-cylinder (the B58) as well as a four-cylinder option, and the model attracted a devoted enthusiast following — continuing the Supra's storied motorsport heritage. Production concluded in early 2026, as Toyota indicated the next-generation Supra would be brought in-house. The BMW Z4, built on the same line, also ended production in 2026.
