History
The Jaguar I-Pace was Magna Steyr's entry into full battery-electric vehicle manufacturing. Production at the Graz plant started in early 2018 and the I-Pace launched to widespread critical acclaim, winning the 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year, and World Green Car awards simultaneously — the first EV to win all three. Magna Steyr also built the smaller Jaguar E-Pace crossover at Graz from 2017.
JLR ended production of both models at Magna Steyr in 2024, citing a strategic shift toward its own in-house electric manufacturing as part of the Jaguar brand's reinvention. The I-Pace's production run at Graz stands as a high-profile example of Magna Steyr's ability to deliver complex EV programmes at scale for premium OEMs.
