Locomobile Model 38 History

The Model 38 was introduced for 1913 as a smaller, more affordable companion to the Model 48 — powered by a 425-cubic-inch T-head inline six-cylinder engine producing approximately 62–63 horsepower, on a 140-inch wheelbase, priced from roughly $4,400 to $5,700 depending on coachwork. It broadened Locomobile's appeal without abandoning the luxury positioning that set the brand apart.

Like the rest of the range it was a chassis sold for custom coachwork. It served through the mid-to-late 1910s (sources vary on the exact final year; roughly 1916–1918) before the lineup consolidated again around the enduring Model 48.
