Ligier JS6 History

Introduced for 1984, the JS6 replaced the JS4 with a more modern exterior: a rounded front end, squared-off headlights, and a black plastic grille. The Motobécane engine gave way to a 49 cc Derbi unit producing the maximum allowable 5 hp for a no-licence vehicle, and a 327 cc Ducati-VM diesel option was also offered — one of the first diesel microcars available in France.

The JS6 continued the two-seat, steel-bodied formula that had made the JS4 a success. It was itself replaced in 1987 by the Série 7, which would soon be renamed the Optima and carry the brand through the first half of the 1990s.
