Lifan 820 (Murman) History

Unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show and on sale in China from 2015, the Lifan 820 (Murman) was the most ambitious passenger car the company had built. At 4,865 mm long with a 2,775 mm wheelbase, it competed in full-size domestic territory and was priced from roughly 81,800 to 119,800 yuan.

Engine options were a 1.8-litre (133 hp) and a 2.4-litre four-cylinder developing 167 hp; the larger unit with a six-speed automatic made the 820 the quickest and most powerful Lifan sedan to date. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS/EBD and a multi-link rear suspension represented a meaningful step up in chassis sophistication.

The 820 remained in production through Lifan's bankruptcy in 2020, but it never achieved strong sales volumes in an increasingly competitive Chinese full-size segment dominated by joint-venture European and American brands offering comparable size at similar prices.
