History

The Lifan 620 entered production in late 2007 and reached customers in early 2008, marketed internationally as the Solano. At 4,550 mm long it sat above the 520 in the Lifan lineup, and its front-end styling drew widespread comment for resembling the BMW 3 Series E90 of the same era.

Engine options included a 1.6-litre four-cylinder producing around 106 hp and a 1.8-litre developing approximately 125 hp, paired with five-speed manual or CVT transmissions. Russian assembly via the Derways joint venture in Cherkessk began in 2010, giving the Solano a local-content foothold in one of Lifan's biggest export markets.

The nameplate spawned two successors: the restyled 630 (2014–2016) and the 650 (2016–2020), each carrying the Solano marketing name into a new generation while the basic formula of affordable, conventionally sized Chinese sedan remained unchanged.
