Koenigsegg CCR History

The CCR replaced the CC8S for 2004, uprating the supercharged V8 to 806 hp — 150 hp more than the car it replaced — and capturing the Guinness World Record for fastest production car in February 2005 with a run of 387.9 km/h (241.0 mph) at the Nardo ring in Italy.

The record was short-lived; the Bugatti Veyron exceeded it later that year. Fourteen CCR examples were built, each still hand-assembled at Koenigsegg's facility at the former F-3 airbase in Ängelholm. The CCR laid the mechanical groundwork for the CCX that followed: the same mid-engine, rear-drive, targa-body formula, but with an evolving in-house drivetrain strategy beginning to emerge.
