Koenigsegg Agera History

Revealed at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Agera (Swedish for 'to act') replaced the CCX with a wholly new twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter in-house V8. Where the CC-series cars used supercharging, the Agera's twin-turbo engine could run on both gasoline and E85 ethanol, producing 940 hp on petrol and 1,030 hp on E85, all in a car weighing about 1,407 kg.

The Agera family expanded through several distinct variants. The Agera R (2011–2014) added a larger twin-turbo package for 1,140 hp on E85 and record-setting acceleration. The One:1 (2014–2015) — named for its 1:1 megawatt-per-kilogram power-to-weight ratio — was the first production car to claim that benchmark, with 1,340 hp and seven examples built (including one factory prototype). The Agera RS (2015–2018) was the definitive street-legal performance variant, limited to 25 customer units plus two 'Final' cars.

On November 4, 2017, a standard customer Agera RS set an outright production-car top-speed record of 457.49 km/h (284.18 mph) on a closed Nevada highway — a number that stood until the Koenigsegg itself surpassed it years later. Agera production ended in July 2018 with the completion of the two final-edition cars, Naraya and Agera RS Thor, unveiled at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
