Koenigsegg CC850 History

Revealed on August 19, 2022, at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance — Christian von Koenigsegg's 50th birthday — the CC850 is both a tribute to the CC8S (the company's first production car) and a showcase for a new transmission concept. The name combines 'CC' (the original lineage) with '850', the approximate horsepower of the CC8S and CCX in their standard-fuel tune. Production is limited to 70 units (50 originally, expanded to 70 six days after reveal due to demand); deliveries began in 2025.

The CC850 is powered by a development of Koenigsegg's twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 producing 1,185 hp on gasoline (1,385 hp on E85). Its headline engineering feature is the 'Engage Shift System' (ESS) — a nine-speed transmission that can be operated either as a fully automatic unit or as a six-speed manual, with a physical clutch pedal and gear lever, allowing the driver to choose the driving character. The ESS was designed in direct response to enthusiast appetite for a manual-transmission Koenigsegg.

The body design pays deliberate homage to the original CC8S in proportions and the characteristic targa panel stored in the nose, while the interior and chassis reflect current-generation Koenigsegg construction standards. It sits alongside the Jesko and Gemera in the active lineup.
