JAC Motors Refine S5 History
History
Originally unveiled at the 2012 Guangzhou Auto Show as the JAC Eagle S5, the model was quickly rebranded to Refine S5 when JAC's SUV sub-brand naming was formalized. The Refine S5 was a five-door compact crossover offering 1.5-liter naturally aspirated and 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engines paired with six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
The Refine S5 was JAC's most successful early SUV, benefitting from China's rapidly expanding appetite for crossovers in the 2013–2018 period. Production ran from 2013 to 2019, after which the platform evolved into the Sehol X6 in the restructured VW joint-venture brand.
