ICON TR Thriftmaster History

The TR Series (Thriftmaster) extended ICON's restomod formula to the 1947–1953 Chevrolet Advance-Design pickup — the same era truck that defined mid-century American work-vehicle design. Donor trucks are fully disassembled, fabricated to ICON's specification, and finished in either Old School or New School trim, with cabin options in three-window and five-window configurations.

ICON also produces a Derelict variant of the Thriftmaster: rather than a full cosmetic restoration, Derelict builds preserve the patinated exterior — cracked leather, original paint, authentic wear — while hiding a fully modern drivetrain, suspension, and climate system underneath. The contrast between the weathered shell and the precision engineering inside became an enthusiast calling card for the company. Pricing for Thriftmaster builds has been reported in the $200,000–$300,000+ range depending on specification.

Beyond the three repeatable production series (FJ, BR, TR), ICON also accepts Reformer commissions — full reconstructions of a wider variety of classic vehicles including 1930s–1950s Lincolns, Buicks, Dodges, Chevrolets, and Willys Jeeps — but these are bespoke one-offs rather than a catalogue model line.
