Hummer Hummer EV Pickup History
History
Twelve years after the brand died, GM revived the Hummer name not as a standalone marque but as a model line within GMC. The first vehicle was the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, an electric off-road 'supertruck' on GM's Ultium battery platform (BT1 architecture). Production of the launch Edition 1 began on November 17, 2021, for the 2022 model year.
The flagship Edition 1 used three electric motors for roughly 1,000 hp, plus headline features such as 'CrabWalk' four-wheel steering (letting the truck move diagonally), removable Infinity Roof panels, and an 'Extract Mode' air suspension that raises the body for deep obstacles. Its enormous battery makes it one of the heaviest pickups on sale.
