History
The GMC Hummer EV revived the Hummer name as a GMC sub-model and the first vehicle built on GM's Ultium battery platform. The pickup was unveiled in October 2020 and the SUV in April 2021; production of the pickup began on November 17, 2021 at GM's Factory Zero (Detroit-Hamtramck) plant for the 2022 model year.
The launch Edition 1 used three electric motors making 1,000 hp, with an EPA range of about 329 miles and features such as four-wheel steering ("CrabWalk") and a removable roof. The Hummer EV positioned GMC at the high end of the emerging electric-truck market.
