HiPhi X History

The HiPhi X was revealed as a production model in September 2020 and customer deliveries began in May 2021, making it the first car to market under the HiPhi brand. It was positioned as an ultra-premium alternative to the Tesla Model X, with a starting price in China well above ¥500,000 (roughly $70,000+).

At 5,200 mm long on a 3,150 mm wheelbase, the X was a full-size SUV distinguished by its 'NT Door' (no-touch door) system: the rear doors combined suicide-door and gull-wing elements that split and swung open via touch-free sensing, giving the car an unmistakable show-car presence. Two powertrain options were offered — a single rear motor at 268 hp for RWD and a dual-motor AWD producing 536 hp combined — backed by a 97 kWh battery with a CLTC-rated range of 550 km (342 miles).

The X was the brand's volume car; by January 2022 more than 5,000 units had been delivered, making it China's best-selling luxury EV at that point. Production at the Yancheng plant ran until HiPhi suspended operations in February 2024 following mounting financial difficulties.
