History

The Haval Big Dog (Chinese: 哈弗大狗) debuted in China on September 25, 2020, built on the same L.E.M.O.N. unibody platform as the third-generation H6 and the Jolion. It distinguished itself with a boxy, adventure-oriented design and off-road features unusual for a unibody crossover: two differential locks, a tank U-turn function, and computer-controlled four-wheel drive.

Trim levels were named after dog breeds — from 'Husky' at the base to 'Belgian Shepherd' at the top — a naming scheme that proved popular with Chinese buyers and generated considerable social media attention. The Big Dog is powered by 1.5L turbo (169 hp) or 2.0L turbo (211 hp) petrol engines and has been exported to several international markets.
