History

When the Graham brothers bought the Paige-Detroit Motor Car Company in 1927, they relaunched the line for 1928 under the Graham-Paige badge. The opening range was numbered for its cylinder count and wheelbase: the six-cylinder Model 610, 614 and 619, and the straight-eight Model 835.

All of the cars used four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes — still a rarity in the late 1920s — paired with a three-speed manual gearbox. The technology and the Graham reputation for quality drove a record debut year of 73,195 cars, up sharply from the 21,881 Paiges built in 1927.

The model numbers were reshuffled for 1929 (the 612, 615, 621, 827 and 837), and from the 1930 season the cars were badged simply 'Graham', dropping the Paige half of the name even though the corporation remained Graham-Paige Motors.
