Graham-Paige Graham Hollywood History

For 1940 Graham launched the Hollywood, built on the body dies of the front-drive Cord 810/812 that Hupmobile had bought from the wreckage of the E.L. Cord empire. Graham built rear-drive versions for itself (the Hollywood) and for Hupmobile (the near-identical Skylark) under a tooling-sharing deal.

Powered by Graham's own supercharged 217.8-cubic-inch six making around 116 hp, the light Hollywood had an excellent power-to-weight ratio for its day. But manufacturing delays, Hupmobile's collapse and weak demand doomed the project: roughly 1,500 Hollywoods (sources vary, from about 1,400 to just over 1,800) were built before the assembly line halted on September 3, 1940, ending Graham car production for good.
