Graham-Paige Graham Cavalier History

The Cavalier was Graham's volume six-cylinder model in the mid-to-late 1930s. When the straight eight was dropped after 1936, the supercharger that had defined Graham's eights was adapted to the 217.8-cubic-inch L-head six, which the Cavalier shared.

Sold in both naturally aspirated and supercharged form, the Cavalier carried Graham through the difficult late-Depression market until the more radically styled 'Spirit of Motion' cars took over the lineup. Sources vary on how long the Cavalier name itself lasted — it appears prominently in the 1936–1937 sixes, with the 217.8-cu-in six it named continuing (under later body styles) toward the end of Graham production in 1940.
