Ginetta G27 History

Introduced in November 1985, the G27 was designed by Mark Walklett as a modern evolution of the G4 concept: a lightweight, tubular-chassis two-seater with glass-fibre bodywork, Triumph Vitesse front suspension, and a modified Jaguar independent rear suspension setup. Engine choice was wide, running from small Ford and Pinto fours up to the Rover V8, giving the G27 genuine performance options in the kit-car market.

More than 200 examples were built across four series, the majority sold as kits. The G27 formed the mechanical basis for the related G33 speedster, and remained in production until the mid-1990s. It is the last direct link in the lineage from the original 1961 G4 to the modern Ginetta.
