Ginetta G21 History

The G21 was Ginetta's most substantial car of the early 1970s, offering either a 1.7-litre four-cylinder or the more potent 3.0-litre Ford Essex V6 in a longer, more comfortable glass-fibre GT body. Aimed at buyers wanting a true grand tourer rather than a lightweight racer, the G21 broadened Ginetta's appeal.

Eighty examples were produced before the 1973–74 oil crisis brought production to a halt, and the model was not revived. The G21 marked the high-water point of the original Walklett-era road-car programme before the company retrenched into kit cars through the later 1970s and 1980s.
