GAC Trumpchi GS4 History
History
The Trumpchi GS4 debuted as a concept at the January 2015 North American International Auto Show and entered production the same year, quickly becoming the sales backbone of GAC's own Trumpchi brand. Positioned between the subcompact GS3 and the larger GS5, it offered a range of turbocharged petrol powertrains as well as plug-in hybrid and, later, pure-electric variants through rebadging partnerships.
A second generation (A39) arrived in November 2019 with a 1.5-litre turbo producing 169 hp and brought a fastback GS4 Coupe variant alongside it. The GS4 has gone through further development into the mid-2020s, underlining its role as the Trumpchi range's workhorse model. Combined annual sales of GS4 variants reached over 32,000 units in China for 2023.
