GAC Trumpchi Empow History

The Trumpchi Empow premiered as a concept at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show and entered production at the April 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, built on GAC's Global Platform Modular Architecture. It was conceived as a sport sedan to differentiate from the more conservative GA4 compact, offering a 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder producing 168 hp paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In 2023 GAC added a more potent 2.0-litre turbocharged R 400T variant producing 261 hp (0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds) and an ABT-co-branded aerodynamics package, bringing genuine performance credentials. A hybrid variant combining a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor for 175 kW combined output also arrived. The Empow reached 41,065 units in 2023, its best sales year, and was adapted as the Dodge Attitude for the Mexican market in July 2024.
