History

The Aion V was revealed in May 2020 and launched in June 2020 as GAC Aion's second model after the Aion S sedan. It offered three trim levels with NEDC ranges from 400 km to 600 km, and incorporated Huawei 5G and V2X communication systems in a sign of the broader technology ecosystem GAC was building around its EVs.

In September 2021 GAC introduced the Aion V Plus, a refreshed variant that showcased next-generation charging technology: the battery could accept up to 880 V at a maximum charge power of 480 kW — among the highest fast-charge specifications in the world at that time. A comprehensively redesigned second generation debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show on GAC's AEP 3.0 platform, launched in China in July 2024, and was earmarked for European, Southeast Asian, and Australian markets as GAC pushed its EV brands internationally.
