Efini MPV History
History
The Efini MPV was the minivan complement to the brand's sedan and sports-car lineup, based on the first-generation Mazda MPV (LV platform) that had debuted in 1988. Fitted with ɛ̃fini badging and higher-grade interior trim, it gave the dealer network a practical family vehicle alongside the more headline-grabbing RX-7 and MS-series sedans.
Unlike the MS-9, which was dropped early as the luxury sedan market contracted, the MPV proved durable enough to remain in the ɛ̃fini lineup through 1997. When the brand was wound down and its dealerships merged into Mazda Japan that year, the MPV simply reverted to being sold as the Mazda MPV.
