Efini MS-9 History

Launched in October 1991 as the flagship of the new ɛ̃fini lineup, the MS-9 was the brand's statement of intent in the upper-luxury segment. Mechanically it was a close sibling to the Mazda Sentia, sharing the rear-wheel-drive platform, four-door hardtop body, and a choice of 2.5-litre or 3.0-litre V6 engines — the 3.0-litre producing around 200 PS.

The MS-9 was positioned above the MS-8 in price and prestige, targeting Japan's executive-car buyers during the tail end of the bubble economy. It was discontinued in 1993, earlier than most other ɛ̃fini models, as falling luxury demand after the bubble's collapse made the high-end sedan segment unviable.
