Efini MS-6 History

The MS-6 was introduced alongside the ɛ̃fini brand's launch in 1991, providing an accessible entry point into the dealer network's lineup. Mechanically it was the five-door hatchback sibling of the Mazda Cronos sedan (exported globally as the 626), sharing the GE platform and a range of four-cylinder and V6 engines displacing 1.8 to 2.0 litres.

Trim levels such as Type S and Type G brought higher-grade interiors and equipment than the equivalent Mazda-badged cars, reinforcing the ɛ̃fini positioning as a step above mainstream Mazda. Production ended in 1994, three years before the brand itself closed, as Mazda consolidated its mid-size hatchback offerings.
