History
The Asia Topic was a light van derived from the Mazda Bongo (assembled by Kia in Korea as the Kia Bongo), produced from 1987 and offered in short and long-body configurations. In South Korea it served as a popular taxi, airport shuttle, and small-business hauler throughout the 1990s.
Like the rest of the Asia lineup, the Topic was wound down when Hyundai's 1998 acquisition of Kia ended the Asia brand. The underlying Bongo-based platform continued under Kia and Hyundai badging.
