Baojun 730 History

Unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show and entering production in August 2014, the 730 was Baojun's affordable seven-seat MPV aimed at Chinese families and ride-hailing operators. With sliding side doors, a 2+2+3 seating layout, and 1.5- and 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine options, it was priced to undercut more established rivals. The nameplate sold approximately 250,000 units in its debut year.

The 730 was a commercial staple in China's multi-purpose-vehicle segment for several years before declining as crossover SUVs captured family-hauler demand. Baojun discontinued the 730 in 2021; SGMW's sister brand Wuling subsequently launched a similar product under its own nameplate.
