History
The 630 was the first car launched under the Baojun name, going on sale in China in August 2011 after a public debut at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier that year. Priced from around 62,800 yuan (roughly $10,000 USD), it targeted value-conscious buyers in smaller Chinese cities who were moving up from commercial vans and motorcycles.
Built on a platform derived from the Chevrolet Sail and powered by 1.5-litre four-cylinder engines, the 630 never matched the blockbuster sales of later Baojun models. Annual volumes peaked at around 68,000 units in 2012–2013 before a steady decline as SUV demand displaced compact sedans. Production ended in 2019 with cumulative output estimated at over 210,000 units.
