Eagle Eagle (wagon) History

When Chrysler bought AMC in 1987 and created the Eagle division, it briefly continued AMC's existing four-wheel-drive Eagle wagon — a raised, all-wheel-drive crossover-style wagon that had pioneered the format years before SUVs became mainstream. It is, in effect, the car the brand was named after.

The carryover wagon was marketed into the 1988 model year, with production ending in December 1987. It was a stopgap rather than a redesigned model, and Eagle quickly moved on to its Renault- and Mitsubishi-derived lineup.
