Eagle Medallion History

The Medallion was a lightly re-engineered North American version of the French Renault 21, imported from Renault's Maubeuge factory. It had been launched as the Renault Medallion, and for the 1988 model year it continued under Renault branding; Chrysler waited until the 1989 model year to rebadge it as the Eagle Medallion, avoiding selling the same car under both nameplates at once.

Sold as a four-door sedan and a station wagon with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine (about 103 hp), the Medallion's run as an Eagle was very brief: Chrysler ended Renault imports at the close of the 1989 model year, retiring the nameplate after a single Eagle-badged model year.
