Brennabor Juwel 8 History

Introduced in 1930 to complement the Juwel 6, the Juwel 8 represented the pinnacle of Brennabor's model range. Its inline eight-cylinder engine displaced 3,417 cc and produced 60 hp at 3,200 rpm, giving the car a top speed of approximately 100 km/h (62 mph). Two body styles were offered: a four-seat sedan and a six-seat Pullman sedan for buyers requiring limousine-class accommodation.

The Juwel 8 was a heavyweight machine — approximately 1,500 kg unladen and 2,000 kg at gross vehicle weight, on a 3.05-metre wheelbase with an overall length of 4.3 metres. Fuel consumption was a substantial 15 litres per 100 km. Production was severely limited by the onset of the Great Depression; only approximately 100 Juwel 8 automobiles were manufactured in total before the line ended in 1932 along with the Juwel 6, and Brennabor withdrew from car manufacturing the following year.
