Bajaj Platina History
History
The Bajaj Platina launched in April 2006 at an ex-showroom price of approximately ₹35,000, targeting the most price-sensitive segment of the Indian two-wheeler market. It sold 500,000 units within its first eight months — an exceptional rate for an economy commuter — validating Bajaj's bet on a simple, fuel-efficient 100cc design.
The Platina has been continuously updated through multiple engine and regulatory compliance cycles (including BS4 and BS6 emission norms) without altering its fundamental identity as a lightweight, high-mileage commuter for daily use in India's smaller cities and rural markets. It remains in the current Bajaj lineup as the Platina 100.
