Bajaj Discover History
History
Launched in September 2004 to replace the Kawasaki KB100 RTZ in Bajaj's commuter lineup, the Discover 125 DTS-i targeted the value segment with the brand's Digital Twin Spark Ignition technology for improved fuel economy. A 112cc variant followed in December 2005, and a 135cc version arrived in 2007.
The Discover family reached its commercial peak in fiscal year 2011–12 with sales of 1,279,619 units, and surpassed 1.31 million in 2012–13, making it one of the best-selling commuter motorcycles in India. However, Bajaj progressively expanded the Discover sub-brand to too many displacement variants, diluting its identity and eroding sales.
Bajaj discontinued the Discover in 2020, consolidating its economy commuter range around the Platina and CT100 nameplates. At its peak the Discover represented Bajaj's answer to Hero Honda's Splendor — a durable, efficient, no-frills daily runner for millions of Indian families.
