Allard L History

The L (sometimes referred to as the L1) was Allard's four-seat open tourer, produced alongside the two-seat K1 from 1946 to 1950. It sat on a longer 112-inch wheelbase to accommodate the rear seats and was priced just above £1,000 new — practical, if spartan, transport for a small family that wanted performance.

191 Ls were built, making it one of the higher-volume Allard models. Like the K1, it used the Ford flathead V8 in various states of tune and offered an honest 85 mph capability — quick for a four-seat open car of the late 1940s.
